5 Ways You Should Be Using Asana to Simplify Your Business

If you've ever heard me talk about anything to do with business, you've probably already heard me waxing lyrical about Asana! It's the hub of my business and it helps me stay organised, focused and #ProductiveAF in many different ways.

I just want to tell you about a couple of those ways and explain a few different features that you can use in Asana to make your life and your business a little bit easier.

Just in case you haven’t heard about this yet, I'm not talking about the Asana that you learn in your yoga class... this is a free app that you can use on your smart phone, tablet or desktop and it's going to change your biz for the better…

1. To Do Lists (on steroids)

Short-Term To Do List

This is your everyday To Do List. The one that everything pretty much goes on. You know the type.

Priority To Do List

This is a special list - you only have 3-5 tasks on here at any time. These are what you're focusing on today / this week / this work session. Knock those mofos off and give yourself a big fat high-five. 

ToyBox To Do List

This is where all the big projects go that are important and need to be done... at some point. They might be whopping great tasks like designing a new website or they could be small things that just aren't important at the moment. Check in here at least once a month... we want to keep things on the periphery, not forget about them completely. 


2. Delegation

Whether you've got regular support, people who help out with certain functions or projects or are pining for that VA in Shining Armour, Asana is a fantastic tool to delegate to and communicate with teams of any size.

You can comment, question and tag each other. You can keep tabs on where everyone and all tasks are up to. You can set due dates at the task and sub-task level and easily what's happening in all areas of your business!


3. Project Management & Planning

Whether it's an epic new course you're creating, launching and delivering or simple speaking gig - you can map out your plans, preparation and deliverables for smooth sailing. 


4. Workflows

Yes yes yes, I know your eyes are likely rolling back in your head, but Workflows will save you time, energy, money and stress in the long run, pinky-swear! 

A workflow is basically a process or checklist on how to do a certain thing that's repeated in your business. And Asana makes it easy as 10 easy things. 


5. Databases

This is usually a bit more of an advanced strategy - and I want you to think about the benefits of having a database at all (the benefits may not outweigh the effort to create and maintain a database). Typically, the 2 main databases that can be helpful for businesses are CRM (Client/Customer Relationship Management) and Content Databases. 

With a Database, you have an easy snapshot of important information. As always, if you're going to make one of these I insist, implore and beg you to only gather information that is going to trigger an action or help you make an informed and important decision - DO NOT gather information for the sake of gathering information #AintNobodyGotTimeForThat


So go forth, young grasshopper. Enjoy the bountiful amazingness of Asana. It's pretty addictive. Don't say I didn't warn ya.
