Why I don't blog

You know that saying ‘the plumber always has leaky pipes’? Yeah, well.

Every week, I help #LadyPreneurs sort their proverbial business s&*t out. Together we get elbow-deep in understanding their business, reviewing their operations, refining their processes, planning their content, plotting the future and eleventy-billion other things.
I’m good at this stuff because I get it, it’s important to me and I KNOW how much of an impact it makes to the success and ease and flow of your business, because #BeenThereDoneThat. “Been” being the operative word. In the beginning, there was content galore. Then I got busy. Having gotten booked out is a fantastic problem to have, don’t get me wrong. But I’m still working on the finer detail of balance ‘in’ with ‘on’ the business.

Blogging. Writing. Something I’m sure I’m destined to do. I LOVE writing and always have. Once I get on a roll, it’s almost impossible to stop. So, why did I stop?

Here are my Top Three Shit Excuses:

1.     ‘Time’ vs. The Mighty Video. We all have 24 hours in a day. So why do some people seem to get so much more done than others? That’s a question I’m sure I’ll answer another time. But for now (in the interest of time) I’ll just say that I’ve slightly fallen in love with video and FB Live to deliver some quick messages and bite-sized bits of love for my peeps.

2.     Perfectionism(ish-ness). I used to have a massive issue with not being sure on my messaging – I’ve been transfixed about having to have my mission, my purpose, my service list and everything else completely figured out to a point of Bransonesque branding. Until I recently decided to flip ‘Having It All Worked Out’ the bird and opt for a more ‘meh, I’ll work it out as I go along’ model. So far, much better.

3.     Fear of sounding like a dick. I think this pretty much sums it up. Sometimes I think I come up with something interesting and profound, only to come to the realisation some time later that it was completely old news, uninteresting or just made sound stoopid. Refer point 2 and the thing about ‘meh’.

Onwards and upwards. Here’s to content creation, being authentic (and not in the #InstagramAuthentic kind of way), imperfection, warts and all, written word etc. #BackInTheGame!
